What is a mini-abdominoplasty?

Compared to other techniques a mini-abdominoplasty is the least invasive for people with the least excess flabby tissue. A short incision is made on the lower abdomen just above the pubic bone to remove excess skin. Repositioning of the navel and stomach muscles is not required. Best candidates for a mini-abdominoplasty are those with only a small amount of loose skin and excess fat.

What is the difference between abdominoplasty and tummy tuck?

A tummy tuck and abdominoplasty are the same things. Tummy tuck is the well-known informal word, while abdominoplasty is the medical term.

How long does it take to recover from abdominoplasty?

The type of surgery you have will determine your recovery time. In most cases, expect a 2-3 week recovery period, although it can take approximately 6 weeks to feel healed and more agile. You should feel comfortable to return to work 2 weeks after surgery. You will be fully healed around 3 months post-surgery.

Is an abdominoplasty safe?

After your surgery, you should expect to feel some pain, discomfort and possibly nausea. There will be swelling and bruising, and you may experience a pulling or tight sensation in the abdomen. All these symptoms are normal and will go away in due course. You will need to wear a compression garment for around 6-8 weeks.
