Once skin stretches and muscles are weakened or distended, dieting and exercise alone do not restore the original shape of the abdomen. It is, however, most suitable after significant weight loss or pregnancy, especially for those who have stretchmarks and lost skin elasticity.

FAQs

Abdominoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that removes fat and flabby skin from the abdomen and reassigns detached abdominal muscles. Best results are achieved if you are fit and healthy and close to your ideal weight.

Yes. There are various types of tummy tuck surgery, including full abdominoplasty or a mini-abdominoplasty. Your surgeon will help you determine the most suitable procedure based on your medical history and your desired outcome.

Surgery time varies depending on what tummy tuck procedure you have. You can expect the procedure to take between 2 to 5 hours.

Compared to other techniques a mini-abdominoplasty is the least invasive for people with the least excess flabby tissue. A short incision is made on the lower abdomen just above the pubic bone to remove excess skin. Repositioning of the navel and stomach muscles is not required.  Best candidates for a mini-abdominoplasty are those with only a small amount of loose skin and excess fat.

A tummy tuck and abdominoplasty are the same things. Tummy tuck is the well-known informal word, while abdominoplasty is the medical term.

The type of surgery you have will determine your recovery time. In most cases, expect a 2-3 week recovery period, although it can take approximately 6 weeks to feel healed and more agile. You should feel comfortable to return to work 2 weeks after surgery. You will be fully healed around 3 months post-surgery.

Like with any surgery, there are risks and complications. Asthetica aims to minimise risks where possible, which is why we partner with select private hospitals with licensed, highly skilled surgeons. We also provide local support for when you return home post-surgery with English and Australian registered nurses on hand, ensuring that your wellbeing and surgical success remains first and foremost our priority.

After your surgery, you should expect to feel some pain, discomfort and possibly nausea. There will be swelling and bruising, and you may experience a pulling or tight sensation in the abdomen.  All these symptoms are normal and will go away in due course. You will need to wear a compression garment for around 6-8 weeks.

Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is surgery that removes hyper-elastic skin and fat from the abdomen. If needed, the naval is reassigned to another position.  If there are muscles that have distended over time they will be sutured back to their original optimum position.
